Lagos police averted an attempt by mob to set suspected female kidnapper ablaze

Tragedy was averted on Monday as irate mob allegedly attempted to set a suspected female kidnapper ablaze after she was beaten to stupor in Lagos state. The suspect was allegedly caught trying to kidnap a pupil of Wisdom School in the Owode Oniri area of the state.
The suspect had earlier confessed to the crime when she was been punished.
The irate mob reportedly assembled fuel and tyres to set the suspect ablaze but for the timely intervention
of policemen from the Owode Oniri division. Protesting in anger that the police stopped them from killing the woman, the mob moved to the police station threatening to set it on fire after they had allegedly attacked the police patrol van shattering the windscreen in the process.
The Nation reports that the command, however, swung into action by stationing an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS and several police vehicles on the road to disperse the crowd.
