The suspect had earlier confessed to the crime when she was been punished.
The irate mob reportedly assembled fuel and tyres to set the suspect ablaze but for the timely intervention
of policemen from the Owode Oniri division. Protesting in anger that the police stopped them from killing the woman, the mob moved to the police station threatening to set it on fire after they had allegedly attacked the police patrol van shattering the windscreen in the process.
The Nation reports that the command, however, swung into action by stationing an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS and several police vehicles on the road to disperse the crowd.
