Messi scores 500th career goal

Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi, has scored his 500th career goal. The Argentina captain netted in the 63rd minute of their La Liga clash with Valencia on Sunday, which they lost 2-1 at the Nou Camp.
Messi, who was making his 525th appearance for Barca, has now netted 450 times for the Catalan club and 50 for Albacete. According to Daily Post,the 28-year-old scored his first goal for the club in May 2005 against Albacete, while his first
international striker came in March 2006 in a 3-2 friendly defeat to Croatia.
Messi’s 450 goals for Barcelona makes him the club’s all-time leading scorer, while his 50 for Argentina puts him in second place, six goals behind Gabriel Batistuta.
