P-Square splits, shares property
IT is sad but true. One of Nigeria’s most successful music acts, Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, has parted ways.
There have been rumours that the sensational singing twins were having problems with each other and may part ways any time soon following a series of tweets they posted a couple of weeks ago. But while denying the rumour, Paul in an interview he granted a few weeks ago, said: “The day you see either one of us doing a solo song, then you can ask if we have broken up, until then we still remain together.”
However, On March 7, Peter released his first solo
song, Look Into My Eyes, and performed solo last weekend at a nightclub in Abuja. Peter has also started working on more solo songs. In fact, he recently shared the picture of himself in the studio without his brother, Paul. Rather, he had with him Selebobo.
To cap it all, Peter has adopted a new stage name, Mr. P and also unveiled a new record label under which he will henceforth release his albums. He will equally perform alone on April 7, 2016 in Dubai.
But not one to be left out, Paul has also floated his own record label, Rudeboy Records with Muno as his first artist.
Confirming the breakup, Peter posted his new identity and contact details of his new management outfit on his official Twitter handle on Monday. Thanking his fans, Peter wrote on Instagram: “Work mood?????? Thanks for your concern and remain blessed as always. For bookings and enquiries, please contact my new management.”
However, reacting to Peter’s move, Paul got emotional and posted on his Instagram page that he wished their mother were alive to see them through in these trying times.
“I wish you were around, now I understand what this life is without having a mother,’ Paul stated.
Since 2003 when they debuted on the music scene, Psquare has been consistent with six studio albums to their credits. They have toured virtually all the countries in Africa and won numerous awards both on the continent and globally, including KORA Awards, BET Awards and MTV Music Video Awards among others. They have also had collaborations with international music stars like Akon and T.I.
