Mom accused of drowning 2-year-old daughter in bathtub

A 24-year-old mom was arrested Tuesday for drowning her 2-year-old daughter in Brooklyn, police said. Lin Li disciplined her daughter Melody Pheng by making her stand up facing a wall for several hours on Sunday night at the families home at 652 47th St. in Sunset Park, police sources said.
When the toddler peed on herself, her mom took her to a filled bathtub and submerged her, the sources said.
A short time later, the mom noticed the air bubbles had stopped.
The baby’s dad rushed to give the girl mouth-to-mouth, but was unsuccessful.
Li is charged with murder in the second degree, manslaughter and acting in a manner injurious to a child, cops said.
The child was rushed to Maimonides Hospital where she died. Her father told cops she drowned, police said.
Police began investigating the tot’s death as a homicide because the hospital alerted them about bruises on her 4-year-old brother’s neck, police sources said.
